Monroe's books were featured at the South Carolina booth at the National Book Festival.

TURTLE SUMMER; A Journal for my Daughter is the winner of the ASPCA® Henry Bergh Children's Book Award.
The award will be presented to Mary Alice Monroe at an award ceremony and cocktail reception during the 2008 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in Anaheim, C.A. The ceremony is on Monday, June 30, 2008
The ASPCA has also selected TURTLE SUMMER as a Henry's Book Club selection for August 2008.
TURTLE SUMMER is selected in "Best Children's Books" by the Children's Book Council 2008.
