We have 20 nests!

I got a call theat there were tracks up near Breach Inlet.  So I hurried from the house on a hot and steamy morning.  Maggie, my dog, was miffed because she saw me put my flip flops on and knew I was headed to the beach.

When I arrived Mary and Bev were already moving eggs from the nest.   The nest was high up on a scarp. A turtle crawled up to a boardwalk and then onto a scarped dune--incredible!  The poor thing  fell off the 2-3 foot dropoff when returning to the ocean!  There were ants swarming all over the surface and Mary and Bev we were bitten many times while getting the eggs out of the egg chamber.  My job was to find a suitable place to relocate the nest but there just are not any suitable dunes in the area. A pity. So we finally decided that the best thing for the turtles would be to move the eggs to the 30th Avenue area.  Mary put me to work to carry the 120 plus eggs in the red bucket o this hot and steamy day.  I was only too happy to do so.

From her track size this could possibly be the turtle who nested 2 weeks ago at the Sand Dunes Club on Sullivan's Island. Hard to believe we've had 5 different turtles nest in the last 4 days!
