Favorite shrimp recipes


 

Every southern cook has a favorite recipe for shrimp and grits.  The secret is to buy wild American shrimp and fresh grits, unenriched and untreated grits ground from whole corn.  There's no substitute.  Here is mine~

 Creamy Grits

2 cups water
2 cups heavy cream (okay, I confess I often use milk to cut fat and it still tastes great)
1/4 lb. butter (don't cheat here)
1 tsp salt

Add grits to boiling ingredients then simmer for for 20 minutes--stir!
That's it.  Served with shrimp, it's pure heaven.

Boiling shrimp:  It's so easy!

Barely cover with water(with spices if desired). 

Small shrimp approximately 1min.

Medium shrimp-approx. 2 min

Large shrimp-approx. 3 min, or what you know works best for you.
